for The Aurum Institute

Explainer animation for IMPAACT4TB, a global health programme of The Aurum Institute, about latent tuberculosis and the case for short-course preventive therapy. Made with agency Burness, my second film for them after Starting With Women.

Burness and I directed it together; I designed the visuals with Felipe Vargas and animated the piece in After Effects. Where Starting With Women told a personal story, this one had to explain science in a minute and a half: illustration, storyboarding and motion design in service of a clear message for health ministries, funders and clinicians.

Tuberculosis remains the world’s deadliest infectious disease, and nearly a quarter of the world’s population carries the latent form without knowing it. Most cases are in low- and middle-income countries.

The film explains what latent TB is and why a shorter course of preventive treatment matters, in illustrated scenes rather than charts.
