Latent tuberculosis (TB) infection is a major public health problem that affects almost a quarter of humans on the globe. We cannot end TB without addressing latent TB. But many people in the global health field are unaware of the problem or fail to appreciate its importance. Therefore, it’s difficult to get them to recognize the value of short-course preventive therapy as an effective way to reduce the financial and human costs of TB.
This animation is educational and an awareness tool to begin addressing this challenge. It serves as a starting point for conversations between IMPAACT4TB’s / Aurum’s audiences and the organization.
For Burness, Maryland, we created this Animation, Artwork, Logo, Script copywriting and Audio FX. The goal of this animation is to bring attention to the barriers women face in gaining secure rights to land and natural resources, and in benefiting from natural resource investments and related legal and regulatory reforms, as well as showcase proven ways to address these barriers in developing country contexts.

Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection that spreads through the air. It most often affects the lungs, but can exist in any organ of the body. When a person with lung TB coughs, sneezes or spits, TB bacteria are released into the air. Another person only needs to inhale a few of these bacteria to become infected. TB remains the world’s deadliest infectious disease. In 2016 alone, it killed close to 1.7 million people, over 95 percent of which were living in low- and middle-income countries.
Every year, over 10 million people still fall ill from a disease that is both preventable and treatable. Over 10 percent of those who fall ill from the disease are co-infected with HIV, and another 10 percent are children.
